OCEANIUM – world leader in sustainable seaweed innovation, has secured critical funding from Innovate UK and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) through the Diet and Health Innovation Competition. This funding will drive the development of Project SeaFibre, focused on advancing OCEAN HEALTH™ NUTRA, a nutrient-rich superfood ingredient derived from sustainably farmed seaweed, in collaboration with the University of Reading.
This project aligns with OCEANIUM’s mission to unlock the seaweed farming industry in the Western Hemisphere, creating a new value chain for future food security.
The Challenge: Global Fiber Deficiency
Over 90% of people in the UK and EU – and 95% in the US—do not consume enough dietary fiber. This widespread deficiency poses serious health risks and contributes to diet-related health issues.
OCEAN HEALTH NUTRA™, a nutrient-dense superfood ingredient derived from cultivated seaweed provides a sustainable solution. It contains approximately 70% dietary fiber, along with bioactives, essential amino acids, iodine, minerals, and polyphenols – offering significant health benefits.
